 Sunrise Pools

September 17, 2026

Pool surfaces are consumable. Plaster, quartz, and pebble all wear, etch, and eventually stop protecting the shell underneath. That's not a defect... it's the expected life of the material. The only real question is whether you replace it on your schedule or wait until it forces the issue.

Through **November 30, 2026**, we're taking **$1,000 off resurfacing and replastering** for homeowners across Pender, Onslow, and New Hanover counties.

## Signs the surface is done

You don't need a contractor to tell you most of these:

- The bottom or steps feel rough enough to scrape feet and tear swimsuits
- Stains that won't brush out, no matter what you throw at them
- Chips, pitting, or spots where the plaster has flaked away
- Cracks, or areas where you can see the gunite underneath
- Hollow, drummy spots when you tap the wall — the finish has delaminated and water is getting behind it
- Water loss you can't explain
- Chemistry that fights you all season and costs more every year
- Loose or missing waterline tile
- A color that just looks tired

One of those on its own might be a repair. Two or three together means the finish has stopped doing its job, and you're paying for it every month in chemicals whether you resurface or not.

## Why fall is the right time

The pool isn't in use. You're not giving up swim days. Crews and materials are available in a way they simply aren't in March, when everyone in the county decides at once that they want their pool ready by Memorial Day.

Book now and the work happens during the months you weren't swimming anyway. Wait until spring and you're in line... and you're losing part of the season to a job that could have been done in January.

That's the honest reason the offer runs through November instead of into spring. We'd rather fill the off-season calendar than the rush.

## What the job actually involves

Three phases, no mystery:

**1. Free on-site evaluation.** We look at the pool, sound the surface for hollow areas, check the shell, and give you a written quote with the line items spelled out. No charge, no obligation.

**2. Drain, prep, and repair.** Old finish comes off. Hollow spots get addressed. Tile and coping work happens here if it's part of the scope... it's far cheaper to do while the pool is already empty than to come back for it later.

**3. New finish and startup.** The finish goes on, the pool fills, and the water gets balanced before we leave.

The prep phase is where corners get cut in this trade. A finish placed over a poorly prepped shell will look fine for a season and start failing after that. It's the part you can't see once the water's in, which is exactly why it matters who does it.

## Choosing a finish

- **Standard white plaster** — the lowest cost and still the right answer on plenty of pools. Softest and shortest-lived of the options.
- **Colored plaster** — same material, different look, modest step up.
- **Quartz aggregate** — harder, better stain resistance, holds color longer.
- **Pebble** — the most durable, and usually the best long-term value on a pool that gets heavy use.

We'll walk you through the trade-offs against your budget and how you actually use the pool. There's no single right answer, and anyone who tells you there is has one product to sell.

## The offer

**$1,000 off resurfacing and replastering contracts, through November 30, 2026.**

Minimum project size applies. One discount per pool. Can't be combined with other offers.

We're a licensed North Carolina pool contractor — **L.101500** — serving Hampstead, Surf City, Topsail, Sneads Ferry, Wilmington, Leland, Jacksonville, and the surrounding coastal communities.
